A Renewed Community Hub in Ft. Lauderdale's Largest City Park
By the Community, For the Community
FTL War Memorial Update
In partnership with the City of Fort Lauderdale, the Florida Panthers' revitalization of the iconic War Memorial Auditorium remains well underway, marking one of the largest restorations of a community space in South Florida since the onset of the pandemic.
While we, like so many other businesses and developers, have experienced a number of labor and supply chain-related construction delays, we are grateful for our partnership with the city, and the patience of the great Fort Lauderdale community, as we continue working diligently to bring this project to life.
Phase one of this exciting project will be centered around the opening of the Baptist Health IcePlex. This state-of-the-art ice facility will feature two regulation-size rinks, including a dedicated community ice rink with programming for all ages, as well as the Panthers new team practice rink with stadium seating where local fans can catch their favorite players in action.
With the South Florida community remaining at the heart of this exciting project, the completed Fort Lauderdale War Memorial Auditorium will transform the city’s largest park into a vibrant community recreation and entertainment destination and serve as an integral part of this city’s bright future for decades to come.
The Heart of Holiday Park, Revitalized.
Standing as a tribute to military heroes on the western end of Fort Lauderdale’s 93-acre Holiday Park, the historic War Memorial Auditorium first opened in 1950 as a popular music and entertainment venue, drawing U.S. Presidents and celebrity icons from Buddy Holly to World Boxing Champion Héctor Camacho over the decades.
Upon completion, the newly adapted 144,000 sq. foot sports and entertainment venue will debut as a recreation hub for all members of the community, and continue to serve as an honored memorial for Broward County’s military veterans under the stewardship of the veteran-owned and led Florida Panthers.
